We Love Schools
Schools Financial Credit Union has been providing educational employees with low-cost financial products and outstanding service since 1933. Throughout the year, Schools Financial Credit Union connects with and supports schools, teachers, students and their families in our field of membership with a series of events and programs that we collectively call “We Love Schools.”
"We Love Schools" events and programs:
Teacher of the Month and Year Programs
We collaborate with ABC10 and Sacramento State University to sponsor these terrific programs that honor the outstanding work teachers do to prepare the next generation for success. Each month, we present $1,000 to the selected Teacher of the Month, and in June, we present $5,000 to the Teacher of the Year.
Education Matters Grants
Teachers are invited each February to apply for one of 10 $300 grants to use especially for curriculum materials — books, software, subscriptions, technology or manipulatives — to engage student learning.
Tools for Schools
This summer program provides bulk quantities of basic classroom supplies to schools throughout our branch network. There is a critical need for notebooks, paper, markers, pens, pencils, folders, glue sticks, backpacks and other necessities in schools throughout the Sacramento metropolitan area.
Bite of Reality
This fun, hands-on program — offered throughout the year for high school students — teaches real-world money management skills as students navigate the complex task of balancing their needs and wants within a budget.
Lunch On Us
Each quarter, a school within our field of membership will be chosen to receive Lunch on Us — our chance to recognize and thank the dedicated people who ensure our schools run smoothly.
MAP Your Future
As a sponsor of this annual program with the Elk Grove Unified School District, we display our booth and interact with parents and students to explore pathways to prepare for both college and careers.
Parent Information Exchange
Our sponsorship of the Sacramento City Unified School District gives the Credit Union a monthly opportunity during the school year to speak with parents, school staff and community partners about the benefits of membership with Schools Financial Credit Union. Prizes and materials are on hand to make this event fun and informational.
As part of our Schools Cares Program, we encourage staff to volunteer in their neighborhood schools by providing each of them with eight hours of paid time off annually. That totals more than 2,000 hours allocated each year to the benefit of schools and nonprofit organizations in the communities we serve.
The School Representative Program
The School Representative Program, formed in 1953, has been one of the primary ways for school employees to learn about the many benefits of Credit Union membership.
