Anyone can nominate a school to be a Tools for Schools recipient. Ten schools will be selected.

The Origin of the Tools for Schools Program
In 2016, we launched an Education Matters Grants program to award classroom teachers with grants for classroom supplies. We received 900 submissions describing the considerable need for supplies. Since the grant program's beginning, we've awarded 30 teachers with grants. Tools for Schools is a program born of the great need expressed by those teachers. Our goal is to raise money to purchase school supplies and award them to area schools with the greatest needs in the communities we serve. For the last two years, we were delighted to award $14,000 worth of school supplies to schools in need.
*Tools for Schools 2019 - Program Details:
This program will award ten (10) Tools for Schools recipient schools within our field of membership with bulk quantities of classroom supplies (colored paper, colored markers, black pens, glue sticks, ruled-paper notebooks, pencils, erasers, safety scissors and folders). Entries will be evaluated by a judging panel based on the following criteria: 1) creativity – the level of specificity of the entry describing how the classroom materials will be used by, and benefit, teachers and students; 2) the percentage of the school’s student body utilizing free or reduced-cost meals; 3) location of the school to determine that it is within our field of membership; and 4) total number of nominations submitted on behalf of the school. Limit of one award per school.
The program runs from August 1, 2019 through September 15, 2019. Tools for Schools recipients will be notified by September 24, 2019. The school Principal, or his designee, must agree to be a Tools for Schools recipient, agree to have their photo taken and allow Schools Financial Credit Union to use the image without restriction in promotional materials, and receive the classroom materials within 15 business days after accepting the award. Limit one entry per person. Schools Financial Credit Union employees and their family (spouse, parents, siblings and children) and household members are not eligible. Program entrants do not need to be members of Schools Financial to nominate a school as a Tools for Schools recipient. Recipient schools are responsible for applicable taxes, if any. Awards will be made in the form of bulk quantities of the materials listed previously delivered to the recipient school. If the nominator of a selected recipient school does not respond to our notification within three business days, an alternative recipient school may be chosen.
In addition to nominating a school on our Facebook page, you may also enter by: 1) email email@example.com with your full name, email address, telephone number, school name, school address, plus a specific description of how the classroom materials will be used; 2) mail a written nomination with your full name, email address, telephone number, school name, school address, plus a specific description of how the classroom materials will be used to Schools Financial Credit Union, Attn: Marketing Department, 1485 Response Road, Suite 126, Sacramento, CA 95815; or 3) drop off a completed nomination at any of our branches. All nominations must be received by September 15, 2019.
