FAQs

What are eAlerts?
SchoolsOnline can send you a text message or email when specific actions are taken on your account. There are standard eAlerts conveniently built in to SchoolsOnline such as Low Balance and Direct Deposit Received, but you can create an eAlert for almost any type of account activity.

How often will I receive them?
That’s entirely up to you. SchoolsOnline sends eAlerts at the following times:

  • Throughout the day (usually within 30 minutes of the specified account activity)
  • Daily (around midnight)
  • Weekly (on Mondays)
  • Monthly (on the first of the month)

How do I start receiving eAlerts?
To receive standard eAlerts, click the name of the eAlert. Under the heading “Send Email to” your email address will be pre-populated in the Primary field. Select the check box next to your email address and click “Save.” You may add additional email addresses in the “Other” field. That eAlert will now be sent to your email.

You can also receive eAlerts via text message. Under the heading “Send Text to” enter your phone’s text message email address. This is how your phone receives text messages. (Examples are given for most major mobile providers.) Check the box next to your text message email address to begin receiving this eAlert via text message.

How do I stop receiving eAlerts?
Click the name of the eAlert. From the Edit screen, remove the check marks in the “Send Email to” and/or “Send Text to” checkboxes and click Save.

Can I view an eAlert’s history?
Yes, there is a “Show Recent eAlerts” icon to the left of each eAlert. Click it to see the history for that particular eAlert. You can also click “eAlert History” in the submenu of the main eAlert tab to see a history of all of your eAlerts.

Can I customize the standard eAlerts?
You can change the account you’d like to monitor, the frequency of delivery and the delivery method. Note that any time a change is made your next eAlert will show a back log of all previous occurrences of the new criteria. This is a one-time event. You can also create an editable copy of any of the standard eAlerts. This will allow you to rename it and change the criteria. 

How do I create my own custom eAlert?
Start by clicking “Add eAlert” in the submenu of the main eAlert tab or above the All Alerts eAlert page. Choose an eAlert type from the following options:

  • Balance
  • Transaction
  • Document
  • Sign In
  • Message

The rest of the process depends on what type of eAlert you choose:

For Balance eAlerts
Balance eAlerts tell you when a specific account reaches a specific amount. For example, if you want to be notified when your account drops to $100, enter “$100.00” in “Balance Below.” Low Balance eAlerts pull from actual balance, not available balance. To receive an eAlert when your savings account hits $5,000, enter “$5,000.00” in “Balance Above.” Then just choose the account to monitor, the frequency of delivery and the delivery method. (Note: if you change the Daily Balance eAlert from “Daily” to “All Day,” only balances that have changed will be included in the eAlert.)

For Transaction eAlerts
Name the eAlert, and then choose the “Criteria” that will trigger the eAlert. For example, if you want to receive an eAlert every time Schools appears in your checking account, enter “Schools” as the Criteria, “Checking” as the account and “All Day” as the Delivery frequency.

For Document eAlerts
Document eAlerts only trigger when a Document is uploaded to your account, something we are not currently doing in SchoolsOnline. We will send you an email when your eStatement is ready, but that is not an eAlert. To receive these emails, check the box marked “Notify me by email when my eStatement is ready” in Statement Preferences under the Statements & Documents tab.

For Sign In eAlerts
A Sign In eAlert is provided as a standard eAlert. It triggers every time someone signs in to your account.

For Message eAlerts
Similar to Sign Ins, a Message eAlert is also provided as a standard eAlert. It will trigger anytime you receive a Message from us.
