Insurance Coverage

Medical - As a Schools Financial Credit Union employee, you have a choice between two excellent, comprehensive medical plans. Employees working 29 hours per week or more can receive medical coverage at no cost and at 50% of the premium for family members. Employees working 20-28 hours per week can receive medical coverage and pay 50% of the premium.

Dental - As a Schools Financial Credit Union employee, you have a choice between two excellent, comprehensive dental plans. Employees working 29 hours per week or more receive this benefit at no cost and at 50% of the premium for family members. Employees working 20-28 hours per week receive this benefit and pay 50% of the premium.

Vision - Schools Financial Credit Union offers an excellent, comprehensive vision plan through VSP. Employees working 29 hours per week or more receive this benefit at no cost and at 50% of the premium for family members. Employees working 20-28 hours per week receive this benefit and pay 50% of the premium.

Insurance Waivers – Recognizing that you may have health insurance coverage elsewhere, Schools will pay you a monthly premium if you work 29 hours or more each week and you waive coverage under Schools’ medical plan.

EAP - Schools offers an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) which provides confidential, professional counseling to assist you when you need help with managing stress, controlling drug and alcohol use, overcoming loss, handling personal problems, increasing motivation, and managing life/career changes. The premiums for this benefit are paid for by Schools, and each employee receives up to 5 sessions free per year.

Work/Life Balance

Time Off – You will accrue paid time off from your first day of employment. Full-time employees accrue fourteen days of vacation per year and 9 sick days per year. Vacation time off increases to 19 days after 3 years, and 24 days after 10 years of service as a Schools employee. Part-time employees accrue time off at a prorated rate, based on the number of hours worked. Also, Schools employees enjoy 12 holidays per year.

Babies in the Workplace – Schools encourages new moms and dads to bring their newborn baby to work for the first six months to assist them in transitioning back to work.

School Activities Leave - Schools employees may take up to 40 hours per year off for participation in a child's school activity.

School Service Leave – In recognition and support of our original field of membership, Schools encourages and compensates employees who give their time to school districts and day care centers in our service areas.

Financial Security

Competitive Salaries – Schools’ goal is to pay salaries that are competitive with other employers in our community and industry. Each year, we benchmark our salaries against the market to ensure we maintain a competitive pay structure. In addition, as an incentive for providing excellent member service, a 5% differential will be paid to employees who work in our branches.

Investment Plan (401(k)) - The Schools 401(k) plan is a great way to put money aside for your future retirement. Your funds are managed by the one of the largest money management firms in the business and you choose which of five investment options is best for you.

Financial Planning - As an employee of Schools, you may receive financial planning advice. The Schools Financial Services Corporation offers access to a variety of investment and insurance products through Linsco/Private Ledger (LPL), at no charge to you.

Flexible Spending Accounts – Under Schools’ Flexible Spending Account, employees may enroll in a Pre-Tax Premium Plan, Medical Care Reimbursement or Dependent Care Reimbursement accounts. These accounts provide a convenient way to defer pretax income to cover many out-of-pocket medical expenses and dependent care costs.

Disability Income - For employees who work 20 hours or more each week, Schools provides a long-term disability insurance plan at no cost to you to protect you if you are ever unable to work due to disability. If you are unable to work for more than 90 days, coverage can equal up to 60% of your monthly base pay. The Credit Union also provides sick leave and family/medical leave for employees with such needs.

Life Insurance – For employees who work 20 hours or more each week, Schools provides life insurance in the amount of your annual salary and accident insurance at twice the amount of your annual salary, and Schools pays the full cost.

Voluntary Insurance Programs – For employees who work 20 hours or more each week, Schools offers a variety of other voluntary insurance programs for you and your family including life insurance, long-term care, and cancer insurance.

Membership - As an employee of Schools, you will be eligible for membership at the Credit Union. This will entitle you to the same array of products and services that our other members enjoy. As an employee you will receive some services free of charge, such as bill pay, checking accounts, check printing, traveler’s checks, wire transfers, and notary services.

Gain-Sharing - Our Gain-Sharing program is designed to reward all employees for their participation in the achievement of predetermined corporate goals. Gain-Sharing dollars are accumulated based on our ability to meet Credit Union goals. These dollars are then distributed to all employees based on an equal percent of each employee's W-2 earnings.

In-House Training - Schools offers in-house training to expand your technical, business, and management expertise.

Interest-free Computer Loans - In order to promote our commitment to technology, Schools provides interest-free computer loans to employees purchasing a computer for home use who have completed six months of employment.

Service Awards - Schools recognizes and celebrates the service anniversaries of all employees. In addition, employees will receive an additional vacation day during the year of the anniversary of five years of employment with Schools and all subsequent five-year anniversaries.
